Parish council right to appeal
In case you are not yet aware, Government has refused a petition to give parish councils the right to appeal planning decisions. This is disappointing, although not unpredictable, and comes shortly after the deadline for responses to the consultation on major changes to the planning system has passed.
We will continue to press for a right to appeal. We know there are some MPs who are receptive to a right to appeal at least being extended to those councils with adopted or emerging neighbourhood plans (planning policies) that have been wrongfully ignored during the planning decision-making process.
There have been 13,311 signatories and 100,000 are required in order for a parliamentary debate to be automatically considered.
